Dr. Roberta McKay and Elmer Brenner present:
"Something from Nothing" Art Show and Sale - Nouveau Gallery
Please join us and see the works of Wilf Perreault, Vic Cicansky, Lorne Beug, Melody Armstrong
and many more at the “Something From Nothing” Art Show and Sale.
The show's central theme is to discover
new life for materials destined to become nothing more than waste –
simply put, to create a new future. One better and more hopeful than
the one that previously existed.
The sale will help make possible the visit of members of the Recycled Orchestra from Paraguay. I hope you will take this opportunity to come and check out the art created for this occasion, if not at the opening on March 22nd then on the 23rd or 24th.
This project is about the innate quality that art in all its forms brings to our society. We believe passionately, that art, something that has been around since the beginning of time and considered to be one of the very foundations upon which our existence is based, is so close to being considered a luxury - or worse - redundant. Yet in third world countries like Paraguay it is the foundation for hope, for learning and for a better more positive future. We believe that, like in Paraguay, if our community can embrace art and culture, in all its forms, it too can begin to understand its healing powers. As a community we will seek out our similarities and work towards a joint future, not one that focuses on accommodating our differences but accepting those differences.
The entire project, over the course of this past year has reached out to arts organizations within the community to come on board to support the importance of the arts as a change agent on the path to reconciliation and to a stronger more viable community.
